Waiver Wire Week 4

Fantasy Football: Waiver Wire for Dummies Week 4

Fantasy Football: Waiver Wire for Dummies Week 4

Ahh the dreaded bye weeks are creeping upon us. This is like a family reunion, and the weirdo cousins showed up, and there’s more family on the way. This week’s weirdo cousins are the Patriots and Titans.

How to play the waiver wire. If you you lost, GET THE BEST PLAYER AVAILABLE. It doesn’t matter if you need that position, you always need trade bait.

If your just looking for a fill in, play the match up. Well, what if there is no room on my bench? Drop the kicker. It leaves open space and kickers are only match up plays any way. That way, you get the best skills positions, and trim up before game time.

Hold on sir, if that is your real name.

Waiver Wire Week 4

Christian Petersen/Getty Images

Chris Johnson RB– If your just deciding to pick up CJ2k, you missed the boat. It’s looking like Ellington will make his triumphant return Week 4. Yes, Mr. Johnson’s performance was great, but they were playing the 49’ers. Who, with the exception of Week 1, should be replaced with dyslexic 11 year old rabbits as that would drastically improve their performance.

Charles Sims RB– 11 points is intriguing, but he is only utilized on passing downs. He rushed 6 times for 11 yards. Plus, it’s the Bucs. That would be like an express pass to the front of the line to getting punched in the face. (I’m not sure of those lines exist, but stay with me on theses analagies). Nothing to see here.

Get ’em while they’re hot!

Tyrod Taylor QB– Another 20+ point week for Mr. Tyrod. For those of you who listen to the show know that I am very high on Tyrod. He is unstoppable. Yet, he is only owned in 44.8% of the leagues out there.

Andy Dalton QB– Dalton putting up a 30 burger. Has he just pissed too many people off in the playoffs? I just can’t figure out why the number 3 ranked QB is only owned in 39.6% of the leagues out there. Is it the ginger thing?

Derek Carr QB– I have been waiting to put this Mr Carr up here for a few weeks. Carr has thrown for 665 yards, 5 TDs, and just one interception. And, excluding the Broncos, have a pretty generous schedule in front of them. How about this week when the play Da Bears. A team that struck fear into the hearts of no one this year.

Devonta Freeman RB– Anyone who scores 37 points, makes the list. That being said, I don’t like Freeman long term. Due only to the fact that Tevin Coleman is very talented as well, and figures to see the field a lot. Worth a roll of the dice, but temper expectations.

Lorenzo Taliaferro RB– Strictly a speculative add here, but the Ravens are struggling. The Forsett magic has appeared to have worn off, and this team needs to figure out how to give their D a rest. They are facing a rival Steelers team sans Rothlisberger. For some reason, these game always seem to surprise in some way, shape, or form.

Waiver Wire Week 4

Buffalo Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor (5) hands the ball to Buffalo Bills running back Karlos Williams (29) during the second half of an NFL football game against the Miami Dolphins, Sunday, Sept. 27, 2015 in Miami Gardens, Fla. The Bills defeated the Dolphins 41-14. (AP Photo/Wilfredo Lee)

Karlos Williams RB– Williams is a playmaker. He has found a way to be consistent, and has outplayed McCoy by a landslide. Tough match-up this week, but a good pick up.

Rishard Matthews WR– The only positive on a terrible Dolphins team. Matthews is a must add in all leagues. Only owned in 16.4% of leagues.

Marvin Jones WR– Is Marvin back? Well, 25 points over the last 2 weeks. Definitely worth a pick up.

Ruben Randle WR– Finally found the end zone. Good matchup against the Bills this week. The Bills have given up the 2nd most receiving yards through Week 3. He would be a great fill in for you Amendola owners.

Charles Clay TE– Clay found the end zone! Hip hip, never mind. I think the reason for the slow start has been a chemistry issue, but that figures to get better. Especially, against a Giants team ranked 29th against TEs.

Gary Barnridge TE– Had a great game against the Raiders. One thing though, the Raiders are horrible at stopping tight ends. Worth a bench stash if you have the room.

Jordan Reed TE-Still here. Only owned in 61.8% of leagues. Would have a lot more points, but Cousins has struggled getting him the ball. Reed is constantly open, and figures to get the ball a lot more.

I’ve got my eye on you

Antonio Andrews RB (Bye Week), Chris Thompson RB, Thomas Rawls RB, Allen Hurns WR, Seth Roberts WR, Bennie Fowler WR, Devante Parker WR, Darren Fells TE and Anthony Fasano TE.

Well, that does it for me. Always remember, if you can’t play good, try to get lucky.

XOXO

Fantasy Football:Bench, Trade, Stash Week 3

Fantasy Football:Bench, Trade, Stash Week 3

The only thing more frustrating than losing in fantasy, is when you could have won with one of your bench players. It’s like talking to a beautiful woman, buying her drinks all night, having the time of your life with her. Then, finally, when you’ve built up enough courage to make your move, she introduces you to her boyfriend. As you watch her leave, holding back tears, you glance over at your buddy who picked up a dashing young lass down the bar from you that was flashing you smiles earlier in the night. I may have digressed.

Allow me to use a phrase from the dearly departed Yogi Berra. Fantasy Football is 90% roster, the other half is setting your lineup. Well, have no fear, we are here to help.

Week 3 Benchwarmers

New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning, front, fumbles the ball as Atlanta Falcons outside linebacker Kroy Biermann makes the hit during the second half of an NFL football game, Sunday, Sept. 20, 2015, in East Rutherford, N.J. (AP Photo/Seth Wenig)

Eli Manning QB– Chances are this is going to be a very boring game. That said, the Washington Redskins have allowed the second fewest passing yards, and only 2 TD receptions. They are going to ground and pound this game controlling the clock, and keeping the Giants O off the field.

Drew Brees/Sam Bradford QB– These two are combined as both of them will struggle throughout the season. Fact is, both head coaches are committed to plans that are simply not working. In the case of Bradford, this may be his last appearance. Chip Kelly appears to be to going down with the ship, but one more embarrassing loss and you will see his allegiance to Bradford will dissolve faster than fat kid chasing an ice cream truck.

Matthew Stafford QB– Denver’s D is tougher than a $2 steak right now.  The Vikings held the Lions to just 16 points. This is a game Lion fans might not want to see. Here are some friendly suggestions: see how far you can throw a bucket, challenge an infant to a thumb war, or try to lick your elbow. These are all fun activities, and will certainly guarantee more success than Stafford will have on Sunday.

Lamar Miller RB– First, Miller is banged up. Second, the Bills have allowed the second fewest rushing yards. Third, please see previous two points. This will not be pretty.

DeAngelo Williams RB– Le’Veon Bell is back. That fact is, Williams has played great, but he will be utilized as a change of pace back, and his production will reflect it. My gut tells me his numbers will be similar to Ben Tate when he was complimenting Foster in Houston. Might be worthy of a flex, but not much upside unless Bell goes down with an injury.

Calvin Johnson WR– Please see note about Stafford. Denver has allowed the fewest passing yards in the NFL. However, their offense has been mediocre at best. That means it’s not a given that they will have to turn to the passing game out of necessity.

Brandin Cooks WR– It has been a slow start for the chef, and it will not get any better against the Panthers on Sunday. Brees has had his struggles, and a shoulder injury to complicate matters further. I certainly wouldn’t drop Cooks, but he is certainly riding the pine in all fantasy formats until further notice.

Michael Crabtree WR– But Darnz, you had him on your waiver wire pick up. That is true. He is going to be a good match up play, or bye week fill-in. Going against one of the best secondaries in the league is not where we are going to see his production thrive. The only thing boding in his favor is the focus will be on Amari Cooper.

Jimmy Graham TE– I can’t for the life of me figure out why Seattle hasn’t gotten Graham involved. He always has the potential for a big game, but the Bears have been surprisingly effective against TEs this year. Couple that with the fact that they have a lousy Rush Defense, and Seattle is bound to run the score up quick allowing them to run the ball to kill the clock. Jimmy Graham is like a Lambo, but the owner still rides a bike to work.

Week 3 Tradeskis

Trade Away

Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson (81) runs upfield as San Diego Chargers defensive back Jahleel Addae defends during the first half of an NFL football game Sunday, Sept. 13, 2015, in San Diego. (AP Photo/Denis Poroy)

Calvin Johnson WR– Wheelie will have more future production than Megatron. Calvin will occasionally have some good games, i.e. Week 2, but it will not be consistent. He is still a big name coming off a decent week which will provide you some good value. Father time is ticking, and he is a mother shut your mouth.

Bishop Sankey RB– Making his second appearance, Mr. Sankey is still a chip. Now, he has a favorable match up against the Colts this week, He is a perfect candidate for a trade. You’re on the clock, 1 more week, and then, chance are, the best you’ll be able to get for him is the third string kicker for the Chicago Bears.

Alfred Morris RB– Jay Gruden is a damn good coach. And, as he did with RGIII, he is eventually going to start the better back, Matt Jones. You have a chance now to trade a #1 RB before he is relegated to his future home of change of pace.

Steve Smith Sr. WR– Smith had a great week 2. Bershad Perriman is coming back soon, and he has been known to outrun Rockets. Once he is a full go, it will be the Aiken/Perriman show in Baltimore. In addition, the WR crop is very deep.

DeAngelo Williams RB– Bell is back. Enough said.

Trade to Get

Stevie Johnson WR– Back to his old self, Johnson will be a valued commodity throughout the season. In addition, he has a very favorable schedule.

Carlos Hyde RB– Hyde didn’t have a good Week 2 which is exactly why you want to get him now. Buy low. He will finish the season with solid numbers

Brandon Marshall WR– Marshall has been playing well, and Eric Decker is going to miss time. This is one of those time where you have to remember 1 + 1 =2.

Week 3 Secret Stash Em

Tyler Lockett WR– The focus is on Doug Baldwin and Jimmy Graham. This is the Rookie’s opportunity to show Seattle why they traded up for him.

Dorial Green-Beckham WR– DGB got his first career catch, and it was a TD. He is adjusting to the speed of the NFL, but loaded with upside. Dare I say, he will be the favorite target of Mariota by week 6.

Rishard Matthews WR– The Dolphins are in desperate need of a spark, and Matthews is it. Rishard has quietly been putting up solid production. He is only owned in 11.3% of leagues.

Well that does it for me. Make sure to subscribe to The Benchwarmers on iTunes.

XOXO
